AFHL U13 AA Playoffs – Round 1 Recap

The first round of the Alberta Female Hockey League playoffs concluded recently. Here is this round’s recap.


North Division

Lloydminster Western Financial Steelers def. North Central Impact, 2-0

Lloydminster handily swept North Central by scores of 23-1 and 15-0. Alyssa Payne had nine goals in the series, and Brielle Winter earned a shutout in Game 2.


St. Albert Raiders Bolts def. Lakeland Panthers, 2-0

St. Albert swept the Panthers by scores of 2-1 and 8-1. In Game 1, Sienna de Champlain and Seena Ramahi scored for the Bolts, while Maisley Olheiser scored for Lakeland. In Game 2, Ramahi (2), Everly Eberhardt, Norah Ludlow, Tala Heron, Everleigh Bootle, Margaux Coderre and Charlotte Kuzyk all scored in the win. Hadley Kowalchuk had the lone goal for the Panthers.


Norland Ram PCFAC Storm def. Edmonton Ice White, 2-0

The Storm swept Edmonton White by scores of 4-2 and 5-2. Game 1 saw Alyssa Doan and Victoria Kent score for the Ice, but Hayden Riley, Payton Christie, Lyliah Savich and Tessa Bablitz all found the back of the net in the Storm’s victory. Game 2 featured Bablitz (2), Charley Atkinson, Elizabeth McLeod and Deklan Bowers scoring to lead the Storm to the series win, with Olivia Ayon and Gabrielle Abrams scoring for Edmonton.


Camrose Wildcats def. Edmonton Ice Blue, 2-0

Camrose swept Edmonton Blue by scores of 6-2 and 8-4. In Game 1, Abby Galletly (2), Makenzie Muirhead, Ayla Masse, Jules Forester and Jordyn Lee scored for the Wildcasts, while Lorelai Lee scored both of Edmonton’s goals. Lee (2), Kate Belamisca and Jakoby Morin scored for the Ice in Game 2, but Galletly (3), Masse (2), Makenna Johnson (2) and Danica Bjorge found the net in the series clinching victory.


South Division

Calgary Fire Black def. Southern Express, 2-0

The Fire Black team swept the Express in two games, winning 9-1 and 6-2. In Game 1, Emma Ward (4), Molly Crockett (3), Nadia Briggs and Jules Fleece scored for Calgary. Checota Many Grey Horses had the lone goal for the Express. Game 2 saw Ward (2), Crockett (2), Elissa Simard and Arya O’Saughnessy score in the win for the Fire, while Hailey Nakama and Violet Norsworthy scored for the Express.


Airdrie Lightning def. Rocky Mountain Raiders, 2-1

Airdrie pulled out victorious in the series against the Raiders. Rocky Mountain won Game 1 6-4, but Airdrie pulled out 4-1 and 5-0 victories afterwards. In Game 1, the Raiders saw Isabelle Nicole (2), Lilly Redmond (2), Aubrey Mannix-Gear and Chelsea Arsenault score in their win. Quorra Brockway, Lauren Hanratty, Kazlyn Tobler and Sierra Sandilands scored for Airdrie in the loss. In Game 2, Sandilands, Alianna Makowichuk (2) and Charleigh Mcculloch scored for Airdrie in the win, while Elliott Heffran had the Raiders’ lone goal. Game 3 featured a 25 save shutout from Alyx Streeter, and offensive firepower was given from Makowichuk (2), Tobler, Mucculloch and Payton Wood.


Central Alberta Twins def. Calgary Fire White, 2-0

Central Alberta won 5-3 and 5-4 en route to their sweep of Calgary White. In Game 1, Ruth Lamoureux, Chloe Egeto, Elyssa Erickson, Brooklyn Nicholas and Maddisyn Stelmaschuk all scored for the Twins, while Sawyer Gillings (2) and Mackenzie Sherban scored for Calgary. In Game 2, Lamoureux (2), Erickson, Kenzie McCrindle and Kinley Manz scored in the Twins victory, and Gillings (2), Charly Butler, and Lyla Elian scored for the Fire in the loss.
